Bev Cummins
Vice President
Program Development
Lincoln Campus Director
Beginning summer 2022, Bev took on a new role at SCC, exchanging student affairs oversight with program development. She had served the College as vice president for student affairs and Lincoln Campus director since January 2014. As vice president of program development, Bev is responsible for college-wide leadership of program development to respond to community, workforce and student needs.
As director of the Lincoln Campus, Bev oversees the operations for all three Lincoln locations: 8800 O St., the Jack J. Huck Continuing Education Center and Education Square in downtown Lincoln. This includes overseeing renovations and construction, activities on campus, enhancing campus culture, and being the “go-to” person for all problems and issues.
A number of major construction and renovation projects have occurred on the Lincoln Campus under Bev’s watch, including the Culinary/Hospitality program, the Café/Commons area, study rooms, a new Health Sciences Facility, and the Student & Academic Support renovation/addition. She also has been heavily involved in two new construction projects: The Sandhills Global Technology Center and a Welding Technology Center. She also oversaw the renovation of Education Square.
Although not construction related, Bev also led the College’s Lincoln Campus response plan during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bev is a proud alumna of SCC, graduating from the Radiography program in 1989. She worked five years in the field as a technician and shift supervisor before also working as an adjunct clinical instructor for SCC’s program.
She began working full-time at SCC in 1995 as an instructor in the Radiography program. Two years later she became program chair. In 2009 she became the dean of Continuing Education, a position she held until 2014.
Beyond her education from SCC, Bev has a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management from Bellevue University, a master’s degree in Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a focus on vocational and adult education, and she’s currently working on an Ed.D. in Educational Administration, also from UNL.
Bev grew up on a farm five miles from Lyons, Nebraska. She and her husband, Christopher Cummins, the director of instructional technology at SCC, have a blended family of four children.
