Student Clubs

Another important part of college life is the involvement in extracurricular student clubs. Each SCC campus offers numerous academic, competition, honorary, and social/recreational clubs for co-curricular learning opportunities, creating relationships, and engaging with others who share a similar interest.

Ag Club

The purposes for which this organization is formed are to:

  1. Develop leadership skills.
  2. Promote community involvement.
  3. Provide support for the Ag Club and its members.
  4. Bring students who have an interest in agriculture together.
  5. Promote the interest of agriculture.

Esports Club

The Esports Club is for students who like gaming and the culture that surrounds competitive gaming. This club will compete locally and nationally in tournaments using Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo and PC. Students will meet business and industry professionals in the gaming community. Club members will have an opportunity to stream to Twitch or YouTube.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)

To establish a community of coaches, athletes and students through authentic relationships who desire to grow in their faith in Jesus Christ and how we can glorify God in our athletic competitions and life.

Livestock/Equine Judging Club

The purposes for which this organization is formed are to:

  1. Compare Livestock and analyze the differences in quality by competing at college contests.
  2. Build confidence and stimulate the mind by defending the evaluations.
  3. Create and improve oral communication skills.
  4. Make logical, rational decisions in the decision-making process of evaluation.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) - Eta Alpha Chapter

PTK promotes scholarship, development of leadership and service, and the cultivation of fellowship among qualified students of the college. This national two-year college honorary organization is comparable to Phi Beta Kappa at a four-year college. It is open to students who have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale and have a minimum of 12.0 earned credits. Students are eligible to apply for PTK transfer scholarships to four-year institutions.

STEM Club

a) bringing together students and faculty members interested in STEM and related fields,
b) providing opportunities to develop skills in leadership, citizenship, and scientific communication,
c) encouraging achievement, scholastic activities, and occupational skills,
d) connecting with science activities and opportunities at the local, state, and national levels,
e) promoting involvement in science issues of the community.

Student Senate

Student Senate is the student governing body of the campus, acting in an advisory capacity and representing students in the College planning and decision-making process. Student Senate helps present student issues and enables positive communication among the students, the administration and the Board of Governors. Student Senate discusses safety issues around campus as well as issues pertaining to the betterment of the student body. Student Senate oversees the committee which plans all campus activities for the term based on student interests.

American Welding Society

The SCC Chapter’s purpose is to promote the welding industry with education and understanding of the many areas involved in the field such as testing, codes, filler materials, base materials, nondestructive testing, metallurgy, blueprint reading, layout, welding processes, and promotion. Students have the opportunity to compete in SkillsUSA.

Chess Club

This club is for members to play chess with each other, to receive chess instruction, and to participate in chess-related events such as tournaments, simultaneous exhibitions, and master lectures.

College Republicans

The purpose of this organization is to foster leadership and responsible citizenship, to promote the principles of efficient governance and ethical behavior, and to aid in the promotion of Republican principles on campus.

Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ)

This group’s purpose is to help students encounter Jesus Christ, experience His good news, and embrace His mission of love, locally and globally.

Early Childhood Student Group

The purpose of the SCC Early Childhood Student Group shall be charitable and educational and include, but not be limited to, serving and acting on behalf of the needs, rights, and well-being of young children and their families with special emphasis on development early childhood educators, fostering growth and development of the young professionals through their work with, and on behalf of, young children.

Multi-Ethnic Student Organization (MESO)

This club provides opportunities for students to become more culturally sensitive to and aware of multicultural and human relations issues. It provides a supportive gathering place for students from culturally diverse backgrounds.

PRIDE

PRIDE at SCC aims to create a positive environment for the diversity of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and other (LGBT+) people at Southeast Community College's locations by increasing community awareness and understanding of LGBT+ needs. PRIDE at SCC hopes to support SCC's locations as the diverse communities they are through education and advocacy.  PRIDE at SCC will reduce the effects of disunity experienced by LGBT+ people by actively supporting SCC's mission of a multicultural community that welcomes and appreciates diversity.  PRIDE at SCC provides safe, accessible spaces for LGBT+ people to network with and support each other and the communities that SCC serves.

Psychology/Sociology Club

The Psychology/Sociology Club is established for the purpose of working toward the betterment of the student body by promoting interest, providing information, and providing activities that allow students in the social sciences fields of psychology and sociology to learn and pursue their interest; developing and promoting a program of social and educational activities related to psychology and sociology such as lectures, panels, discussions, and movies for the benefit of the student body; promoting awareness and understanding for students about the field and potential career paths; and providing opportunities for students to interact with faculty and staff outside the classroom.

SkillsUSA

This club is an affiliate of national SkillsUSA, a national membership association serving students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical, and skilled service occupations, including health occupations, and for further education. SCC’s chapter of SkillsUSA has a purpose to empower its members to become world-class workers and entrepreneurs, leaders, and responsible American citizens. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers, and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA improves the quality of our nation’s future skilled workforce through the development of personal, workplace, and technical skills grounded in academics.

Speech Club

Speech Club is a new organization on the Lincoln Campus.  The purpose of this organization  is to increase interest in public speaking by meeting, discussing and participating in public speaking theory and activities.

Steam Team

STEAM Team brings together students across science, technology, engineering, arts, and math fields to engage in collaborative, interdisciplinary activities and community service events.

Student Physical Therapist Assistant Association

The Student Physical Therapist Assistant Association is established for the purpose of providing opportunities for the enhancement of academic, social, professional and recreational aspects of student life and future physical therapist assistants.

Firestarters for Christ

This group’s purpose is to provide a spiritual environment to study and discuss the Bible, worship, pray, encourage, and provide opportunities for Christian fellowship in a welcoming and caring manner. Firestarters for Christ is a Campus Crusade affiliate, an interdenominational student Christian organization.

John Deere Ag Tech Student Organization

Having an organization for current John Deere students to discuss aspects of the program, socialize over current and past John Deere topics, fundraise for field trips and events, and perform different acts of community service.

Prospective Surveyors Association of NE (PSAN)

Forming a community of Land Surveying/GIS/Civil Engineering Technology students to are willing to help other Land Surveying/GIS/Civil Engineering Technology students to succeed through the program by sharing ideas and fellowship related to the industry of Land Surveying/GIS/Civil Engineering Technology. Also, to advocate for the Land Surveying/GIS/Civil Engineering Technology program through campus and community involvement.
