Lincoln Campus to undergo major renovation

Southeast Community College’s Lincoln Campus is undergoing a major, $30-million facelift that will change the look and feel of the campus. The Student and Academic Support renovation started in March. Around 80,000 square feet of the main building will be completely renovated, while 25,672 square feet will be added.

“This project demonstrates our continued progress in addressing our space needs, from improving fire and life safety, evacuation and egress, toconfidential spaces and accommodating the growth we’ve been experiencing on the campus,” said Bev Cummins, vice president for student affairs and Lincoln Campus director. “Addressing our space needs is vital in fulfilling our mission and bringing our student and academic support services to the central portion of the building.”

Many departments are relocating while the work is being done, but Cummins said everyone is doing their part to make things as smooth and efficient as possible. The renovation project is scheduled to be completed by April 2023.

“Externally, it will provide a welcoming and transparent ‘front door’ that is modern, yet timeless,” Cummins added. “It will be a classy, welcoming, and transparent space that will create a cohesive connection between support services and students.

More than a dozen departments have moved to temporary locations, including Admissions, Adult Education, Advising, Career Services, Counseling, Enrollment Management, Financial Aid, Information Desk, Registration, and Tutoring. The Library Resource Center and Testing Center are scheduled to move the week of March 15.

Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture is the architect for the project, and Boyd Jones is the Contractor. Both are Omaha-based businesses.
