Program Description

Welcome to the Land Surveying/GIS/Civil Engineering Technology program, the only one of its kind in Nebraska. Our four-semester program provides a well-rounded education in GPS technology, Aerial surveying with drones (UAV), Land Development, Civil Drafting and Design, and GIS technology. Students have the opportunity to earn certifications such as the Part 107 Remote Pilots License and the Level 1 Certified Concrete Inspector Certificate. You can also choose to take the Fundamentals of Surveying exam, a significant step towards professional licensure. This program is your gateway to a successful career as a land surveyor, civil engineering technician, civil designer, or construction material inspector. Our program is fully accredited by the state of Nebraska and the Higher Learning Commission.

Students in the Land Surveying/GIS/Civil Engineering Technology program like to solve problems and enjoy math problems.   4. Submit ACT, SAT, Next Generation Accuplacer, or Accuplacer test scores (reading and math) or official college transcripts showing completion of post-secondary coursework in English and math to the Admissions Office at any SCC location.

In addition, you will be required to have a basic tool set when you start the program. You will receive a 10% discount if you purchase the items as a complete set from the SCC Campus Store.

Students entering this program may qualify for the Scott Pathway Scholarship.

State Licensure or Certification Requirements

This program meets the educational requirements for Nebraska, South Dakota, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, and Wyoming state land surveying licensure.

SCC has not made a determination if this program’s curricula meets the educational requirements in any other state. This information will be updated if determination is made for other states. Residents of states other than those noted above are currently not able to enroll in this program.
