The median annual wage for EMTs in Nebraska was $34,320 in May 2018. Average hourly salary is $14-$16.

Registration Information

Does this course qualify me to be a licensed EMT?
Yes, with the successful completion of the course, you will be eligible to sit for the National Registry of EMT certification exam and apply for a state EMT license.

During this course, will I be doing any clinical or ride time?
Yes, students are required to attend at least 20 clinical hours on an ambulance and in an ER setting.

Can I do my clinical time with my local volunteer fire department?
SCC is required to have a legal contract with any agency used by our students for clinical experience. We try to contract with agencies that are full time and will provide the possibility of the most patient encounters. A list of the departments and agencies used for clinicals will be provided prior to students signing up for shifts.

What if I have a conviction on my record, can I still be an EMT?
Obtaining a Medical license with a criminal history can be very difficult, if not impossible. Both the National Registry of EMTs and the State of Nebraska will have to approve you (usually requiring some investigation and review of your case) before you will be allowed to obtain a National certification or a state EMT license. These situations are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If a conviction shows up on your criminal background check at the beginning of class, it could result in the inability to complete the clinical requirements and pass the course.
